RELEASE: City of Indianapolis and IFF Launch New Energy Efficiency Program for Nonprofits in Marion County

Today, the Indianapolis Office of Sustainability and IFF announced the launch of Thriving Nonprofits , a new initiative designed to help Marion County nonprofits improve the energy efficiency of their facilities and reduce operating costs. Funded by the McKinney Family Foundation, Thriving Nonprofits will provide free energy assessments and matching grants of up to $10,000 to up to 15 mission-driven organizations within the county. IFF's Real Estate Solutions team will conduct the energy assessments, and grant money can be used to facilitate building upgrades that reduce energy usage and monthly utility bills.

RELEASE: In effort to cut emissions and improve public health, City again teaching building owners to track utility data

Indianapolis building owners and facilities managers of structures 50,000 square feet or larger can attend free, guided workshops where they can learn how to begin tracking their utility data in the free ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager software program. The three in-person workshops, referred to as "Data Jams," are hosted by the Indianapolis Office of Sustainability with technical support provided by the Indiana Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

RELEASE: City of Indianapolis announces new trash vendor for 2026; universal curbside recycling for 2028

Under this contract, universal curbside recycling will begin for all Indianapolis residents in 2028. Recyclables will be processed at a newly-constructed materials recovery facility, per Indy DPW’s recycling processing agreement with WM. LRS will work with Reworld and Southside Landfill to provide solid waste, heavy trash, and leaf collection services.
