As part of Thriving Buildings, a program administered to encourage participation in the city’s energy benchmarking ordinance, the Indianapolis Office of Sustainability will be hosting Data Jams through May 2025 to provide facilities managers of large buildings learning to benchmark for the first time an in-person opportunity to receive additional assistance. Benchmarking is the act of tracking a building’s energy/utility usage. These workshops are provided at no cost. Bring your laptop and join others learning to benchmark for the first time!
Participants will leave Data Jams knowing how to take advantage of the free ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager software and comply with the Indianapolis Energy Benchmarking and Transparency Ordinance - which now requires all buildings 50,000 square feet and larger to benchmark and report the data to the City.
NEW this year, we're taking Data Jams into buildings where facilities managers are making energy efficiency and clean energy improvements. Participants can network and learn how to start similar projects at their own property.
Save the date for this informational Home Expo, hosted by the St. Luke UMC Creation Care ministry. Speakers and vendors will be on site to share products and practices that will help you reduce your energy usage and support the environment.

Join staff from the Hoosier Environmental Council as they teach you how to take advantage of federal incentives! New savings on appliances, energy efficiency upgrades, electric vehicles, and clean energy are now available through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Learn how to take advantage of the IRA incentives depending on your budget, residence, and income level. These upgrades will lower your home’s energy costs and help manage indoor asthma triggers. The IRA offers us all a chance to directly impact our community by reducing our state’s greenhouse gas emissions and addressing air pollution - but we have to take advantage of it to make it work.
