Mayor Joe Hogsett Names Directors for Office of Public Health and Safety, Office of Sustainability

INDIANAPOLIS – Today Mayor Joe Hogsett announced the appointment of Lauren Rodriguez as director for the Office of Public Health and Safety and Morgan Mickelson as director for the Office of Sustainability.

“These appointments represent critical positions that will guide the future of our city,” said Mayor Joe Hogsett. “I am proud to bring Lauren and Morgan onto our team. Their expertise and public service experience will be invaluable as we tackle some of the most challenging issues facing Indianapolis.”

Rodriguez joins OPHS from Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman, P.C., one of the nation’s preeminent health law firms. She previously worked in civil litigation for the Office of the Indiana Attorney General, and before that worked as a Marion County public defender. Rodriguez serves on the Eskenazi Health Center Board of Directors and has been involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana for over 3 years. She holds a J.D. from the Saint Louis University School of Law, where she specialized in health care law.

Mickelson joins the City of Indianapolis from the Natural Resource Defense Council, where she served as climate advisor to the Office of Sustainability through the American Cities Climate Challenge. Mickelson previously worked as an environmental analyst for Mercy Housing in Denver, CO, and a number of sustainability positions with the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO. She holds a Master of Science in Climate Justice from Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland.

Rodriguez and Mickelson will begin on Monday, March 29. Headshots for each appointee are attached.
