To Accelerate a Cleaner Energy Future, Indianapolis Launches 'Highly Evolved' Camaign
Office of Sustainability and Knozone lead efforts to increase electric vehicle (EV) adoption across Central Indiana
INDIANAPOLIS – The Office of Sustainability and Knozone are debuting a new informational campaign, Highly EVolved, to help educate the public on the benefits and realities of electric vehicles (EVs), as well as dispel common myths about electrification through an interactive website, billboards, and digital and radio advertisements.
This campaign is part of the City's comprehensive efforts to scale and implement climate solutions that will help grow the economy, as well as create a healthier and more equitable infrastructure. Focused primarily on EV education, Highly EVolved highlights:

"We are passionate about making our City a more sustainable place to live, and we see the acceleration of EV adoption as a natural next step in our mission," said Morgan Mickelson, Director of the Indianapolis Office of Sustainability. "We want to show Indiana residents that EVs are a better way to drive, providing a more powerful and clean ride that saves you money and time compared to gas-powered cars."
The campaign directly connects to a Transportation and Land Use objective fromThrive Indianapolis, the city's first sustainability and resiliency action plan. The objective is to increase EV ownership by 300% by 2025 from the 2017 baseline of 760 vehicles by creating local EV educational resources and hosting opportunities for Marion County residents to increase awareness of the benefits of EV ownership. At the end of 2020, 1,058 EVs were registered in Marion County.
Highly EVolved is a collaborative partnership with various stakeholders created in conjunction with Thrive Indianapolis (Indy's sustainability and resilience plan), and as part of the city's effort with Bloomberg Philanthropies' American Cities Climate Challenge launched in 2018.
